Well done Jenny Brown of Wellington RC and others for re-arranging the Area 6 Winter Intermediate Dressage Qualifier which was postponed in December due to snow. The replacement venue was excellent and the qualifier was extremely well run. It was cold, bright and dry and OBHRC had a good turn out however it was not one of our finest efforts. Neither the team of Whitney Russell, Sally Mawer (photo), Antonia Thoday and Tamsin Morris were placed and nor were the individuals – Antonia, Tamsin, Louise Hunt and Jillie Luff. Despite that hopefully all enjoyed themselves.
Thank you to Team Manager, Nicky Waters, for all her work organising and to Sylvia Chalkley for being the essential team helper.
Heavy snow was falling when team members and individuals got up well before dawn. We withdrew our team by 6.10am as most of us were snowed in. By 8.10am, 20 minutes before first riders were due, the competition was cancelled (possibly to be re-scheduled). Thank you to Team Manager, Nicky Waters, for all her effort and communications and to Liz O'Donnell who volunteered to be our team helper.
At the first committee meeting of the new season Diane Hunt became OBHRC's Chair. Welcome.

Standing down were Katie Naylor, Christine Cheadle and Jillian Luff, all of whom are happy to continue helping the club.

This was an early 2018 qualifier held at Wellington EC. Our team came third out of 23 teams. Quite an amazing achievement considering all the setbacks the team had! Three lame horses, two borrowed horses (both only ridden twice previously), one borrowed horse box and one horse box breakdown!
Thank you Team Manager Nicky for sticking with it and to Sacha Hughes, a non-member, who was roped (apparently willingly!) in as the team helper. Well done to Antonia Thoday with Danesbrook Jubilee Flyby (2nd), Anna Smallwood with Indie (5th), Tamsin Morris with Dassett Legal Edge and Amy Kearney with Rose of the Knight.
After a long journey, another good day for OBHRC at this very well attended Championship which saw lots of high quality tests. Tamsin Morris riding Cullawn My Way to Queen tracks came third and Antonia Thoday riding Danesbrook Jubilee Flyby came a close fourth. Both were competing in the Novice with points class. Well done to you both.

A sunny September day at a great venue with a very good result. Our team came a very close third. All four riders rode double clears, and three finished on their dressage scores! Can't ask much more than that. The happy foursome were Hannah Priest on Lynne's Fanta Buddy (second), Sally Symington on West Star (fifth), Liz Rollinson on Dassett Legal Edge (sixth) and Caroline Craddock (ninth).
